She was a retired school teacher and a member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church. She was a member of a highly regarded Russell County family. She was the daughter of the late Leo & Nettie Helm Hadley and was the widow of Cordell Roy.

Marie Roy, 86, of Russell Springs, died Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

Funeral service for Marie Roy will be 10amCT, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jim Kingry officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, December 13, 2016, and after 8amCT, on Wednesday. Interment in the Russell County Memorial Gardens.

She was born June 7, 1930 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Leo & Nettie Helm Hadley. She died Sunday, December 11, 2016, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 86 years, six months, and four days.

She was a retired school teacher and a member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Roy; and a brother, Kenneth Hadley.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters: Minga (Kem) Bell, Jamestown, KY; Renee Roy, and Russell Springs, KY

  • One grandson: Scott Ellis

  • Three brothers: Herlan (Sara) Hadley, Indianapolis, IN; Joe D. Hadley, Russell Springs, KY; and Guy Hadley, Jeffersonville, IN

  • One sister: Vera (L.A.) Traylor, Jacksonville, FL
