Contact: Tim at 270-585-2064 Click on headline for complete story By Tim Johnson, Minister of Discipleship Columbia Christian Church Christmas is only weeks away, and those that have the toughest time during the holidays are those who are grieving. It is hard to celebrate when someone you love is not here to celebrate with you. The Grief Share group meeting at the Columbia Christian Church understands how difficult grief can be to manage, and that is why they want to help. We are hosting a special event called, "Surviving the Holidays." It's a very well-done video of testimonies from fellow grievers that guides viewers through many of the feelings, issues and even dilemmas associated with grief during the holidays. There are workbooks to take notes, and suggestions for how to best handle all that is involved with grief. If you don't know anything about the Grief Share group, it is a group of about 6-10 people from both the church and community that are in various stages of grief. Some have lost spouses, some children and some have lost parents. They meet monthly on the third Thurs. to share, discuss and sometimes just listen. Sometimes people come for one visit, share, (although it is not necessary) and they feel better knowing someone has heard and understands. Others come more frequently not just for the healing that takes place in them, but also for the ministry they provide to others who come to the group. Nobody understands grief like someone who is grieving, or has grieved. We invite you try our group, and everyone is welcome no matter when they have faced loss. Come for yourself or even to bring someone else who is grieving or to encourage those who are in grief.
