COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College will award 407 degrees December 10 at its 104th commencement ceremony.

The liberal arts college's 2016 winter commencement ceremony will be at 10amCT Saturday, December 10, 2016, in Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

Somerset Community College (KY) President Jo Marshall will deliver the winter commencement address.

Marshall will receive an honorary doctorate from Lindsey Wilson. The college will also bestow a posthumous honorary doctorate to Nancy Sinclair of Summersville, KY, who served LWC for nearly 30 years.

This will be Lindsey Wilson's third largest winter class since the college began the ceremony in December 2004. LWC's largest winter class was 418, which was graduated in 2013. This winter, LWC will award 237 undergraduate degrees and 170 graduate degrees.

Dr. Jo Marshall has served the Kentucky Community & Technical College System for 16 years. Under her leadership, Somerset Community College has been recognized as a "Great College to Work For" by The Chronicle of Higher Education and ten times named one of the "Best Places to Work in Kentucky." Dr. Marshall was named 2011 Business Woman of the Year by the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. She serves a number of community organizations promoting the arts, health and community development.

An advocate for leadership development, Dr. Marshall spends time teaching and developing programs with an emphasis on leadership. In 2013, the Marshall Leadership award was established in her honor by the Phi Theta Kappa organization.

Dr. Marshall earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from the University of Alabama and a doctorate in American Literature and Administration of Higher Education through a combined study from Samford University, University of London and University of Alabama.

Nancy Sinclair served three LWC Presidents

Nancy Sinclair, who passed away on November 20, 2016, served three Lindsey Wilson College presidents during her nearly 30 years at the college. She spent all but three of her first 24 years at LWC in the Development office. Sinclair knew almost all of the college's donors as well as their family members. Sinclair worked behind the scenes on numerous events including homecoming, Founders' Day, the Fall Trustee Luncheon and commencement ceremonies. In 2011, she became the executive assistant to President William T. Luckey Jr.

"Nancy Sinclair was a living example of the Lindsey Wilson mission," Luckey said. "She embodied the Lindsey Wilson mission because she always put students at the center of her work, and she constantly looked for ways to lift up our students. She was one of those rare people who made everyone around her better. In so many ways, she was the conscience of this college."

Following the commencement ceremony, the Lindsey Wilson National Alumni Association will hold a reception for graduates and guests in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive.

To accommodate the large crowd expected for winter commencement, the ceremony will be shown on closed-circuit television in the Norma & Glen Hodge Center for Discipleship, 402 Helen Flatt Drive. The ceremony will also be carried lived on DuoCounty Channel 2 and on lindsey.edu via its Stretch channel.
