Evelyn Sarah (Cooper) Berson, 98, Russell Co., KY (1918-2016) She was crowned Miss Kentucky in 1938 and represented Miss Kentucky in the Miss America Pageant in 1938. She was a member of the Art Students League in New York for many years. She was a native of Russell County, KY, the daughter of the late Giles Leslie & Mary Elizabeth Leach Cooper. She was the widow of the late Dr. Morton T. Berson. She spent 77 years of her life in New York before joining her sister in North Carolina for the last two years of her life. Her final resting place will be in her native Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Giles Leslie & Mary Elizabeth Leach Cooper. She died died Monday, November 21, 2106, in Boone, Wautaugua County, NC, at the age of 98 years, seven months, and 26 days. She lived in New York for 77 years and spent the last 2 years of her life with her sister, Pauline, in Boone, NC. She was a member of the Art Students League in New York for many years. She was crowned Miss Kentucky in 1938 and represented Miss Kentucky in the Miss America Pageant in 1938. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Morton I. Berson; six siblings, Frederick E. Cooper, James E. Cooper, Norman E. Cooper, Virginia Lee Cooper Cravens, Donald S. Cooper, and Giles E. Cooper. Survivors include:
