By Linda Waggener
The Columbia Adair County Parks and Recreation board met Monday, November 14, 2016 and addressed several items of business after approving the minutes of the last full meeting, treasurer and director's reports.
New Officers were elected. Charles Grimsley volunteered to serve as board chair for one month until his term ends, then Debbie Yates will begin serving as chair. Vice chair is Cynthia Rowe; Treasure is Barbara Shepherd; Secretary is Linda Waggener.
The date, time and place of the regular monthly meetings were changed to allow for greater participation by members. The new schedule for the meeting is the first Thursday of each month at 4pmCT in the Jim Blair Center.
The next meeting will be Dec. 1, 2016 at 4pmCT in the Jim Blair Center, 901 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY.
In other matters from the Director:
The Jim Blair Center is fully rented.
The HVAC has been installed and is working well.
Upgrades are desired for the gym floor and outdoor playground equipment. Prices are being researched.
Policies and procedures for the Board are to be updated. Copies will be brought to the next meeting for review.
Long range plans are called for and will remain on the agenda as a reminder of needed action.
Betty Knifley attended from the Adair County Garden Club to share information about how to become a certified Monarch Waystation.
Present at the meeting were: Judge/Executive Michael Lee Stevens, Blair Park Director Lisa Handy, and board members Charles Grimsley, Debbie Yates, Linda Waggener, Cynthia Rowe, Alicia Bosela, Damon Hicks and Barbara Shephard.
Gifts to help with gym flooring and playground equipment are welcome and volunteers are always welcome.
