ACHS Band BOA National Title is Third in a Row!!!

This is big! Mr. Case and the 2016 ACHS have more than done their part to continue this Tradition of Excellence. It was a tough year this year, but the victory Saturday, in such a solid way, crowns the 2016 ACHS Band as one of the best in the band's history. Let's give Mr. Case and these kids the huge welcome they deserve!!! By the way, Mr. Case has set new records two years in a row. Adair County had earned two national titles before, but never two in a row, and now we have three in row for a total five national totals. Under Mr. Case, ADAIR has now won three BOA Grand National 1A Championships in a row!!! - SHAMARIE HARPER

Thanks to Annette Hatcher for alerting us to give a big welcome to the Adair County March Band at 2:30pmCT, today, Sunday, November 13, 2016, when the band arrives back in Columbia.

I want to add, if I may:

This band is not only carrying a National Title back to Columbia for the Third Year in a Row, they swept the awards in their class:

They are 1A Grand National Champions.

They swept the individual awards, winning Best Overall Music, and Best Overall Visual, and Best Overall Effect!

The Adair Band was one of only. two bands (Tarpon Springs HS, Tarpon Springs, FL was the only other) band in this year's Bands of America Grand Nationals to win everything in their class.

The Bands of America Grand Nationals included bands from high schools of all sizes from across the United States of America. - Shamarie Harper

Equipment & Props Van rolls in - and there's a choke . . .

Terry Waddle, the driver of the big black Volvo Adair County High School Band van, had briefly acknowledged fans and photographers along the way as he passed Betty's Flowers and Things and the entrance to the Columbia City Cemetery. With him in the co-pilot's seat is band parent Chuck Glandorf. This van, the big chartered coaches, equipment trucks and the long convoy which accompanies the band to and from its innumerable triumphs is an awe-inspiring procession. The sight of the van brought a choke to many in the crowd, knowing what it represents and the inspiring story of this very young Adair County Marching Band. - EW

Dennis Loy, Adair County Circuit Court Clerk, pulling the pit equipment trailer passes his mother-in-laws flower shop with wife Lisa Loy, mother-in-law Betty Smith, waving to onlookers in front of her shop, and Dennis' mother, Bernice Loy, with him. Loy said this huge victory was one to "just thank the Good Lord for. . . it all came together between State finals and the BOA, peaking at just at the right minute - and that's what counts," he said, "in band competition and politics. Peaking at the right time." Loy shared a story he heard from an Adair Countian who gets a thrill out of the people knowing about the band, first, when he mentions he's from Adair County. The ex-pat said that it was the talk around Lucas Oil Stadium that people watch for this tiny band, at an event where many bands are four times the size. "They're like a chihuahua. They're little but you never know what they will come up with . . . nobody has told them they can't run with the Big Dogs, and man, do they ever!"
