Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville. Everyone is invited to the service free of charge. Akins has made strides in the world of evangelism after following the call to pastor First Baptist Bracktown in Lexington, Ky. Through his leadership and guidance from his Heavenly Father, this church has grown from 65 members to over 1,000 active members. Akins is also the author of the book, "From Burden to Blessing." Educationally, Dr. Akins has been diligent in his pursuit of learning foreign languages, business and theology. His studies have spanned all over the country, eventually landing him in Kentucky. Akins also served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973 where he was made a multilingual interpreter. From 1973 to 1980, he taught foreign languages in the Military Intelligence Division of the US Army Reserves. Some of the languages he has studied include Czechoslovakian, Russian, Chinese, Mandarin, German, French, Greek, Hebrew and Latin. Verified leadership skills and a passion for community lead Akins to serve on numerous boards. Akins serves as vice chair of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees. Akins is in high demand as a preacher for revivals and conferences all across the nation, and he is often summoned to speak on behalf of marginalized cultures. In March 2011, Akins and his wife, Rozalyn, were invited, along with many other clergy and politicians, to be guests at President Barack Obama's World Day of Prayer Breakfast, which is held annually in Washington, D.C. Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations. All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 23.0) and are streamed live on the Internet at www.campbellsville.edu/live-streaming.
