Mr. George Frank Hagan, Taylor Co. KY/Monroe Co, KY native (1927-2016)

Mr. Hagan professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner and operator of Hagan's Auto Sales, the oldest used car dealership in Taylor County. Mr. Hagan also kept busy by hauling milk for Chapel's Dairy, and as a young man, he had worked in the funeral business. He answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a native of Monroe County, KY, and a resident of Taylor County at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Bascal and Effie (Carlock) Hagan. His wife of 62 years Martha Elise Nevins Hagan, survives. He leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Mr. George Frank Hagan, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, passed from this life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Hagan on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 10amCT/11amET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Josh Wilson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Hwy 208, Lebanon, KY 40033, with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veteran's Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

He was born on December 15, 1927 in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY. He was the son of the late Bascal and Effie (Carlock) Hagan. He died on Saturday, November 5, 2016, Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, having attained the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

Mr. Hagan professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner and operator of Hagan's Auto Sales, the oldest used car dealership in Taylor County. Mr. Hagan also kept busy by hauling milk for Chapel's Dairy, and as a young man, he had worked in the funeral business. He answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
  • His wife of 62 years: Martha Elise (Nevins) Hagan, Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sons: George Dale Hagan and wife Linda of Louisville, KY; and Greg Hagan and wife Tonya of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four siblings: Ronald Hagan and wife Ruby Nell of Tompkinsville, KY; Junior Hagan of Glasgow, KY; Doris Reeser of Tennessee; and Emogene Tyree and husband Riley of Glasgow, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Renae Weddle and husband John of Campbellsville, KY; Amber Floyd and husband Bryant of Connecticut; Whitney Hagan of Wilmore, KY; Paula Pierce of Louisville, KY; and Angie Vittitow and husband Kevin of Louisville, KY

  • Six great-grandchildren: Logan Weddle, Zoe Weddle, Ryan Weddle, Josh Pierce, Luke Vittitow, and Stephanie Huff,

  • And a host of extended family and friends
He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister, Dillard Hagan and Blanche Hagan.
