Women's soccer defeats Shawnee State 4-0 on Senior Night By Anthony Latessa The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team beat Shawnee State (Ohio) 4-0 on Senior Night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. Kaitlin Cook scored twice for the Blue Raiders (12-3-0, 7-0-0 MSC), while Lyana Perez and Yvonne Ploeg chipped in with goals as the Lindsey Wilson won their 10th-straight match. The Blue Raiders held an 11-1 shots on goal advantage over the Bears (6-6-2, 3-4-0 MSC). Cook put the Blue Raiders on the board first in the 19th minute off a feed from Delfina Santellan. Cook scored her second goal of the night in the 34th minute, Santellan picked up her second assist of the night on the goal. Perez extended the Blue Raider lead to three in the 51st minute with Veronica Kurtz-Martinez picking up the assist. Yvonne Ploeg made the lead 4-0 in the 75th minute. Ploeg received a pass from Shelby Austin and was able to put the ball past the Shawnee State goalkeeper. With the victory Lindsey Wilson has won the Mid-South Conference regular season title for the 16th time in program history and for the third season in a row. Prior to the match, Peta Kimber, Perez and Johanna Henriksson as well as junior varsity seniors Lexi Phipps and Lindsey Thomas were all honored on Senior Night for their contributions to the women's soccer program. The Blue Raiders open up the Mid-South Conference tournament as the number one seed. The tournament opens on Thursday at Warren East High School, 6867 Louisville Road (Campus), Bowling Green, KY.
