LWC women's basketball opens 2016-17 at Brescia 29 Oct 2016

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team opens up the 2016-17 season at Brescia (KY) Saturday at 12pmNoonCT. The game is being played at the Kentucky Mavericks Training Facility, 817 West First Street, Owensboro, KY.



The Blue Raiders look to build off a strong 2015-16 where they went 28-7 which is a program record in and made it to the NAIA National Championship Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. 10 players from last year's team are back including NAIA All-Tournament Second Team selection Kayla Styles and Chanel Roberts who was a NAIA Second Team All-American.

Brescia went 19-14 last season and lost to Indiana East in the semifinals of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Bearcats only return five players from a year ago. Brescia finished the season third in NAIA Division II in Total 3-Pt FG Made with 319 and had the seventh best scoring offense averaging 78.2 points per game.

Saturday's matchup is the 43rd meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson holds a 37-15 edge in the series. Last season the Blue Raiders defeated Bresica 76- 62. Roberts scored 16 points and Billie Hearn grabbed 12 rebounds.
