MARIETTA, GA - (Fri 28 Oct 2016) The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team made it 13 wins in a row as the fifth-ranked Blue Raiders took down Life (GA) in straight sets (25-11, 25-11, 25-15) on Friday night at The Eagles' Nest.

Lindsey Wilson (25-1, 9-1 Mid-South Conference) snapped a 12-game win streak by the Running Eagles (18-10, 5-8 MSC) in the first of two games in two days between the squads.

The Blue Raiders worked quickly in the first two sets before Life battled back in the early parts of set three, but was unable to sustain any rhythm against a well-balanced Lindsey Wilson team.

Lindsey Wilson jumped all over Life early in set one, winning the first four points of the match and six of the next seven to build a 10-1 lead out of the gate. The Running Eagles had no answer for Grace Blomstedt in the opening set as she recorded six kills on seven swings to lead the team. The well-balanced Lindsey Wilson offense continued to flourish, eventually pulling away and winning the set 25-11 with the final kill coming from Makenzie Montano.

Lindsey Wilson hit .385 in the set, committing three errors as Life hit .075 in the frame with four errors. The Running Eagles recorded 40 attack attempts but the Blue Raider back line was ready, giving up just seven total kills in the opening set.

Another fast start in set two had LWC out to a 6-0 advantage. The two squads evenly traded the next 14 points to make it 13-7, but Lindsey Wilson rolled off seven straight from there to make it 20-7 and eventually took the set 25-11. The Blue Raider offense was less efficient in set two, hitting .222, but the big LWC defensive line at the net caused problems for the Running Eagles as they were held to a -.156 attacking percentage with 11 errors.

Life took its first and only lead of the night in set three after capturing the first two points. Lindsey Wilson quickly tied the match up and put together strings of points to build a four-point lead at 9-5. A run of five points later in the set helped LWC pull way at 19-10, finally finishing off the Running Eagles 25-15.

A .211 mark in the third set brought Lindsey Wilson's attacking percentage down to a .279, just below its season average of .289. Life was held to a .000 attacking mark for the match. Both teams recorded six blocks, but the Blue Raiders picked up seven service aces in the match, including a season-high four from Caitlyn Tino, which matches the highest number recorded by a Blue Raider this year.

No Blue Raider went into double-digit kills, but five players had at least six led by Blomstedt's nine. Montano finished 29 assists and Tino had 27 digs, 16 coming in the first set alone.

Life was led by Sam Diebold with seven kills and Nohema Garcia-Torres with 21 assists.
