COLUMBIA, KY (Sat 22 Oct 2016) - The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team saw its run at a perfect season end Saturday as the Blue Raiders (8-1, 2-1 Mid-South Conference West) fell to No. 3-ranked Reinhardt (GA) 55-34 in the NAIA Game of the Week.

The Eagles (8-0, 3-0 MSC West) threatened to run away with the game early, scoring 21 unanswered points to start the game.

Reinhardt scored the game's first touchdown on a 33-yard scoring pass from Ryan Thompson to Deonte Dennis to cap a four-play, 37-yard drive. Following a Lindsey Wilson three-and-out, the Eagles found the end zone again on a 10-yard rush by Dominique Swope.

Lindsey Wilson's offense began to find traction in the ensuing drive, but the Blue Raiders failed to put points on the board, turning the ball over on downs at the Eagle 23-yard line.

Starting with the ball in its own territory for the first time all game, Reinhardt orchestrated a 77-yard touchdown drive that ended on a seven-yard pass from Thompson to L.J. Stegall.

Already trailing by three scores, the Blue Raider offense scored on its next three possessions to end the half.

Lindsey Wilson went 60 yards in two plays in its first scoring drive of the day. Dylan Beasley connected on a 40-yard pass to Allen Cooks to set up a 20-yard scoring strike to Tyrone Stallard. The junior wide receiver reeled in a high throw and evaded an Eagle defender to reach the end zone.

The potent offense of Reinhardt scored on a quick-strike drive of its own to push its lead to 28-7 with 12:48 remaining in the second quarter. On the second play of the possession, the shiftiness of Stegall turned a busted play into a 79-yard scoring scamper - the longest play of the day for either team.

The trading of touchdowns continued, as Lindsey Wilson responded with a scoring drive of its own. The Blue Raiders were close to seeing the possession stall out inside the opponent's 10-yard line, but a crucial personal foul on Reinhardt gave Lindsey Wilson a fresh set of downs. The offense capitalized on the mistake, and Jalen Sublett scored from two yards out.

Reinhardt's third rushing touchdown of the half made the game 35-13. The drive was extended on a fourth-down conversion inside the red zone - one of three in the game by the Eagles.

Beasley again marched the offense down the field in the closing minutes of the half, finishing the drive with a four-yard touchdown scramble. Earlier in the drive, a defensive pass interference penalty negated a Reinhardt interception in the end zone.

The Blue Raiders entered halftime trailing 35-20. Reinhardt scored on its first five possessions in the half and amassed 288 yards of total offense before the break. Lindsey Wilson's offense shook off a slow first quarter, posting 206 total yards and three touchdowns.

Lindsey Wilson forced its first stop of the afternoon on the first possession of the second half.

Energized by the stop, the Blue Raider offense went on a 62-yard march across the field. Beasley found Cedric Washington on a 55-yard completion and finished the drive with his second rushing touchdown of the game - reaching across the goal line at full extension.

Lindsey Wilson's defense could not replicate the results of its previous stand, and the Eagles went 68 yards for another touchdown. Reinhardt failed to score on only two drives in the game, also kneeling to kill the clock and end the first half.

Needing to keep pace with the Eagles, Lindsey Wilson went eight yards in four plays on its ensuing drive and punted the ball back to Reinhardt.

Thompson's second passing touchdown of the afternoon pushed the Eagle advantage to 49-27. The senior completed seven of his 12 attempts for 90 yards and gained 35 yards on the ground.

Lindsey Wilson appeared poised to answer but a turnover on downs ended a 19-play, 73-yard possession at the Reinhardt five yard-line. The Blue Raiders were unable to push the ball across the goal line on seven attempts from five yards or closer on the stingy Reinhardt defense. The Eagles responded by sealing the game with a 95-yard drive on seven-straight handoffs to make it 55-27.

Reinhardt amassed 367 rushing yards against the Blue Raiders and scored three touchdowns on the ground. The Eagles entered the game with the NAIA's most prolific rushing offense at over 403 yards per game.

The Blue Raiders answered Reinhardt with a 74-yard touchdown drive. Jayven Jones found the end zone from four yards out and 3:32 on the clock to pull Lindsey Wilson to within three possessions.

Jones led the Blue Raider rushing attack with 75 yards on nine attempts - all coming in the second half. The sophomore running back averaged 8.3 yards per carry against the stout defense of Reinhardt which allows the fewest yards per game in the nation.

Lindsey Wilson failed to recover its onside kick attempt, but the Eagles gave the Blue Raiders a glimmer of hope when it fumbled with 2:17 left in the game. With the ball on the Reinhardt 41 yard-line, Lindsey Wilson looked to pull the game to within two touchdowns, but Beasley threw an interception to Marcus Miller to end the comeback bid.

Beasley completed 20 of his 32 attempts on Saturday for 279 yards and one touchdown. Lindsey Wilson total 456 yards of offense on Saturday.
