No. 5 LWC volleyball beats St. Thomas 3-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - (Sat 22 Oct 2013) - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated St. Thomas (FL) 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-19) at the Powell Athletic Center on Saturday.



Elly Burke led the way for the Blue Raiders (23-1) with 11 kills. Grace Blomstedt had nine kills and Eileen Acuna had eight kills and a team-high 12 digs. Lauren Streets and Makenzie Montano each had seven kills, Montano picked up a match-high 32 assists.

Lindsey Wilson jumped out early on the Bobcats (19-5) in the first set. After St. Thomas scored the first point of the match the Blue Raiders responded to take the next nine points for a 9-1 lead. Later in the match Lindsey Wilson went on a five point run to take a 16-3 lead.

The Blue Raiders closed out the set scoring four-straight to win 25-8. Lindsey Wilson held the Bobcats to a -.143 hitting percentage while hitting .355 in the first set.

In an exchanging of points in the second set the Blue Raiders were able to start to pull away taking five consecutive points for a 20-13 lead. Lindsey Wilson won the second set 25-20 hitting .262.

The Blue Raiders won the third set 25-19 for their 11th win in a row hitting .256. Lindsey Wilson outhit St. Thomas .286 to .103 in the match.
