By Chris Wells, Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson (KY) won the battle of unbeatens in the Mid-South Conference with a 1-0 win over No. 24-ranked Georgetown (KY) tonight at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. The Blue Raiders (9-3, 4-0 in the MSC) controlled the majority of the play during the match, out-shooting the Tigers 16-3. The gritty Tiger defense - led by goalkeeper Brittney Moshos - frustrated the Blue Raiders until the game's lone goal in the 77th minute. Veronica Kurtz-Martinez provided the only score of the night to help Lindsey Wilson win its seventh straight match and its 200th all-time home game. Lyana Perez started the scoring play with a cross from the right flank that floated across the face of the goal onto Kaitlin Cook's boot on the opposite side. Cook collected the pass and one-timed a delivery back to Kurtz-Martinez who blasted the shot past a diving Moshos for the 1-0 lead. The goal is Kurtz-Martinez's third of the season and first game-winner. Annika Koemm had a chance to double the lead in the 80th minute, but Georgetown's Zoe Stovik's provided a stellar defensive play to keep the game at a one-goal deficit. Moshos came off her line to clear a pass, but the ball squirted away giving Koemm an empty net. Stovik rushed back and was able to knock the shot away just before it reached the goal line to keep the game at 1-0. Prior to the goal, Lindsey Wilson had multiple chances in the second half to take the lead. In the 60th minute, Yvonne Ploeg's shot from 10 yards off an indirect kick was blocked preserving the scoreless game. A Georgetown back pass in the penalty area, set up an indirect kick from just outside the six-yard box. The Georgetown defense rushed off the line, following the kick, to block Ploeg's shot to keep the game even. Georgetown's Jodi DeJohn provided the Tigers (10-3-1, 4-1) with some hope in the 67th minute. DeJohn blasted a curler from 25 yards that just sailed high over the crossbar. It was the Tigers' lone shot of the second half. Moshos once again turned the Blue Raiders away in the 75th minute. Outstanding Lindsey Wilson passing in the penalty area freed Perez who stood 12 yards off the line with only Moshos to beat. Moshos rejected Perez's shot to the lower left for her third save of the night. Kurtz-Martinez finally broke the Moshos riddle snapping the Tigers' nine-game winning streak. The Blue Raiders had the best scoring chance in the opening half as Ivana Damnjanovic hit the crossbar from just outside the penalty area in the 36th minute. Lindsey Wilson out-shot the Tigers 5-2 in the opening half, but failed to put any shots on target. Earlier, Georgetown recorded its only shot on goal in the 25th minute. Bethany Massey put a slow roller on target that Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson gathered easily. Henriksson finished with the one save to record the Blue Raiders' sixth consecutive shutout. The streak now stands at 583 minutes since an opponent scored on Lindsey Wilson.
