LWC Women's Soccer rolls past Embry-Riddle 5-0 By Charlie Balcom Daytona Beach, FL - A four-goal performance by Annika Koemm helped the No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team roll past NCAA Division II member Embry-Riddle (Fla.) by a 5-0 margin on Tuesday afternoon at the ERAU Soccer Stadium. Koemm scored twice in each half to double her goal total for the season at eight as the Blue Raiders (7-3) won their fifth-straight contest, including their fourth-consecutive shutout. Ivana Damnjanovic accounted for the final score in the contest. The Eagles (5-3-1) had the first great scoring chance of the game after Embry-Riddle was awarded a penalty less than 11 minutes into the contest. But Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson turned away Guro Naess Berge's spot kick to keep things scoreless. Lindsey Wilson broke the scoreless tie in the 26th minute following a corner kick. Delfina Santellan served the ball into the box where it bounced around a few players. The Eagles failed to safely clear the ball and Koemm pounced as she slotted the loose ball into the net for the 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, the lead was doubled, Koemm once again getting on the scoresheet. Emelie Liljered slide a perfectly timed through ball to Koemm who finished coolly into the net for the 2-0 advantage. Damnjanovic provided the third goal of the half in the 36th minute, Liljered once again helping to orchestrate the play. Liljered and Yvonne Ploeg played give-and-go, one touch passes that reached Damnjanovic at the six-yard box where she fired in for the 3-0 lead. Koemm needed just one minute and 40 seconds after the halftime break to complete her hat trick. She went on a 35-yard run down the field then shot low into the net past the Eagles' goalkeeper for the 4-0 lead. Ploeg tried to score a goal of her own in the 73rd minute but she saw her penalty kick saved by Embry-Riddle keeper Fanny Kristiansson. Just over 90 seconds later, Ploeg helped Koemm pick up her fourth by sliding a through ball to her on the run and Koemm neatly fired home for the final score of the contest. Embry-Riddle outshot Lindsey Wilson 11-10 and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks, but the Blue Raiders put seven of those shots on goal while Henriksson kept the sheet clean with five saves.
