Campus Kitchen at LWC: Already - People have been fed Volunteers, food, and monetary donations are needed. Click on headline for details in the full story with photo(s) By Jacob Saylor The Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College (CKatLWC) officially launched on September 16, 2016. Food from various locations has been recovered, meals have been prepared, and clients, people who have been signed up to receive meals from the CKatLWC, have been fed. Abby Biddle, the Student Program Coordinator for the CKatLWC, was recently featured in an article by Humans of Lindsey Wilson, a publication that captures the stories of those who make up the college. Below is what Biddle had to say about working with and starting a Campus Kitchen Project at Lindsey Wilson College (LWC). "We're finally starting to get somewhere. It felt like everything was going wrong, one thing after another. Things weren't working out the way they thought we would, but everything fell into place the exact time we needed it to. We fed, I think it was, 49 clients last weekend and we didn't even think that we'd be able to feed more than 20 or 30. We're a sustainability model, we want to make sure we have enough resources to feed our exact number of clients. To be able to sustain 40 to 50 clients is something I never thought we'd be able to do. Hopefully by us getting the word out more, people wanting to contribute more, getting more volunteers, maybe getting new food donors, we can serve more people. The only way our numbers can grow is if other things grow, too. The more resources, the more people we can feed."Throughout the year, you will be able to get updates on what the CKatLWC is doing and what you can do to help this project impact our community to it's fullest potential. If you would like to assist the CKatLWC in any way, whether it be volunteering when opportunities arise for community members or donating non-perishable food items and other things necessary for sustaining this project, please contact Natalie Vickous, the Bonner Program Coordinator, or Abby Biddle through email at cklwc@lindsey.edu or through Vickous's office number (270) 384-7469.
