RV collides with emergency vehicles on I65

Elizabethtown, KY - Kentucky State Police Post 04 Troopers worked a three vehicle accident involving a police car and a fire truck on the Western KY Parkway Tuesday afternoon.

On October 4, 2016 at approximately 1:13pmET, Troopers responded to the 128 mile marker on the Western KY Parkway just West of Elizabethtown on a report of a three vehicle accident. Deputies from the Hardin Co. Sheriff's Office and Firemen from the White Mills Volunteer Fire Dept. were working an accident that had precviously occurred at the 128 mile marker westbound. The Fire truck and Sheriff's vehicle were parked in the right hand lane and the shoulder of the Parkway with emergency equipment activated.

For unknown reasons, a 2011 Forrest River Mobile Home RV operated by William Baker (69) and passenger Ladonna Baker (68) both of Grand Island, NE, didn't see the emergency vehicles. Subsequently, the RV Slammed into the back of the unattended fire truck which then slammed into the unattended Sheriff's car.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Baker were airlifted to the University Of Louisville Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

KSP was assisted on the scene by the Stephensburg Fire Dept, Elizabethtown Fire Dept, and the State Dept. Of Transportation. The accident is still under investigation by KSP Tpr. Mike Cook.
