Memorial services Sat 8 Oct 2016 for Sophia & Warren Wheelock Sophia was the daughter of Nola and Robert Elmer Loy. She was born on July 7, 1934 in Fairplay, Kentucky. Sophia moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1951 where she met Warren Wheelock. They married on December 9, 1952. Sophia had a love of education and, once her children were grown, entered Washtenaw Community College and went on to Eastern Michigan University where she earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1988 at the age of 54. Sophia belonged to a peace group, an issue she was passionate about. Sophia and Warren enjoyed nature, gardening, and volunteering. A memorial service for Sophia Alberta Loy Wheelock & her husband Warren Ray Wheelock will be Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1pmCT, at the Loy Cemetery, 1740 Loy Cemetery Road, Fairplay, KY; interment will follow. A reception with the family will follow the service at Columbia Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Jamestown Street, in Columbia In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Because I am a Girl, an organization dedicated to educating girls around the world at www.planusa.org/content2722642.
