By Matt Wurzburger

No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football plays host to Union (KY) Saturday in a matchup between Mid-South Conference divisional leaders.

The Blue Raiders (5-0) are 5-1 all-time in Homecoming games. Lindsey Wilson won its third-straight Homecoming game last season with a 28-9 victory over Bluefield (Va.).

Saturday's game also provides Blue Raider fans with an opportunity to help the Adair County and Columbia community. The Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College - which provides free meals to food insecure members of the community on a weekly basis - will collect canned goods as part of Hunger Action Month. Established by Feeding America in 2008, Hunger Action Month is a nationwide initiative designed to mobilize people to take action against hunger. The Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College is asking for any canned goods, especially vegetables and beans, to help with the Hunger Action Month.

In addition to the canned goods collected, Lindsey Wilson athletics will donate a portion of the admission proceeds to The Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College.

The Bulldogs (3-1) represent the fourth-straight MSC East Division foe on the Blue Raiders' schedule. Union sits alongside Pikeville (Ky.) atop the East Division with a 2-0 record.

Last week, Lindsey Wilson (5-0) defeated Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 84-0.

The shutout victory was the first in Blue Raider program history. Lindsey Wilson limited first-year program Cincinnati Christian to 133 total yards, including a team record 44 passing yards. Nathan Cunningham led all Lindsey Wilson defenders with 12 tackles, including 2-1/2 tackles for loss, earning him MSC West Division Defensive Player of the Week accolades - his first weekly conference award.

Allen Cooks was named the MSC West Division Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against Cincinnati Christian. Cooks recorded 100 punt return yards on Saturday - averaging 20 yards per punt return.

Union overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Cumberlands (Ky.), 49-45, in the Battle for the Brass Lantern. The Bulldogs trailed 45-35 with 11:46 to play, but two touchdown passes by Chandler Whittlesey erased the deficit and put Union ahead.

Whittlesey's efforts earned him his second MSC East Division Offensive Player of the Week nod. The senior completed 25 of his 34 passes against Cumberlands for 323 yards and five touchdowns - his eighth-career game with three or more touchdowns.

Saturday figures to be an offensive showcase, as both teams rank in the top 10 in scoring offense per game. Lindsey Wilson boasts the NAIA's second-most prolific offense at 58.20 points per game. Union ranks eighth at 39.80 points per contest.

Dylan Beasley ranks fourth in the nation with 1,414 passing yards. His counterpart, Whittlesey has the 15th-most passing yards in the nation at 1,047.

The Blue Raiders own a 5-1 advantage over Union all-time with the Bulldogs' sole win coming in 2010. Last season, Lindsey Wilson defeated Union 42-17 on the road after trailing 10-0 after the first quarter. Beasley threw for 158 yards and a touchdown, and the Blue Raiders gained 298 yards on the ground.
