LWC Women's Soccer heads to Cumberlands for MSC road test By Matt Wurzburger No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer travels to Williamsburg, Kentucky for its Mid-South Conference road opener against Cumberlands (Ky.) Friday. The Blue Raiders (5-3, 2-0 MSC) notched their second conference win Tuesday with a thrilling victory over No. 22-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.). Lindsey Wilson kept the Tigers under constant pressure throughout the match before finally breaking through in the 74th minute on an Yvonne Ploeg goal. The goal was Ploeg's third of the season, and the sophomore is second in goals and points despite missing three games and making only two starts thus far. Tuesday's victory was also the second-consecutive shutout authored by Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders previously blanked Life (Ga.) on Sept. 23 and have not conceded a goal since the second half of their match with Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) - a span of 223 minutes. Cumberlands (7-5, 1-1 MSC) was shut out by Georgetown (Ky.), 2-0, in its last match. On the year, the Patriots are averaging just 1.58 goals per contest despite putting half of their shots on target. Jody LeMaster leads all Patriots with 12 points and shares the team lead in goals with five. Goalkeeper Christie Funk has recorded four shutouts on the year and is fourth in the conference with a 1.08 goals against average. Lindsey Wilson enjoys a 27-2 series edge over Cumberlands, including a 9-1 mark in road games. The Blue Raiders defeated the Patriots 6-1 in 2015 and have won the past 22 meetings.
