LWC Homecoming Weekend schedule of celebration events

Lindsey Wilson College's 85th homecoming week will culminate with special events Friday, Sept. 30, Saturday, Oct. 1 with the big football game in Blue Raider Stadium against Union College, through the Sunday, Oct. 2 Homecoming Worship Service at the Columbia United Methodist Church. The celebration features several reunions, including reunions of the college's cycling and baseball alumni. Clicking 'read more' takes you to the complete schedule.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Wednesday, Sept. 28

10 a.m. - Dedication of the Fouser Sustainability Lab, Fugitte Science Center Room 329
In appreciation of the generosity of alumna Nancy Fouser '62, and her late husband Charles '62, join us as we dedicate the Fouser Sustainability Lab, the home of LWC's Sustainability and Energy Applications Program. Be sure to visit www.lindsey.edu/homecoming to find the time of the dedication ceremony.

2:30 p.m. - College/Church Celebration, V.P. Henry Auditorium
This annual gathering of the campus community is a worship service celebrating our historic connection with the United Methodist Church and highlighting the significance of faith-life at Lindsey Wilson College.


Thursday, Sept. 29

11 a.m. - Faculty/Staff Homecoming Cookout & Reunion on the Quad
All current and former faculty/staff members, and the LWC alumni family, are invited to come show our love and appreciation to the dedicated employees who live out our mission "Every student, every day!"

Friday, Sept. 30

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Homecoming Welcome Tent, Administration Building Front Lawn
Register your attendance at Homecoming 2016 and get all of the information needed for the weekend! Also, be sure to register for door prizes to be given away at the Homecoming Reunion Tailgate Tent on Saturday afternoon! Tickets to the Homecoming football game can be purchased at the Welcome Tent for $5. (Tickets at the gate cost $10.)

10:30 a.m. - Alumni College Session #1
We are thrilled to offer these life-long-learning opportunities that will not only be educational, but we guarantee they will also be fun! Be sure to check in at the Homecoming Welcome Tent for the "LWC Alumni College" courses offered during each time slot, as well as class location.

11:30 a.m. - Golden Alumni Luncheon, Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center
Join other members of the LWC Golden Alumni Society (Class of '66 and before) for a terrific time of fellowship and conversation. Members of the class of 1967 are invited to attend as a preview of your 50 year reunion to be held in May 2017.

1 p.m. - Dedication of the Victory Bell Tower at the Campus Quadrangle

The LWC Class of 2016's Senior Gift Project resulted in the largest senior gift in the history of Lindsey Wilson College. With their support, we dedicate the newest addition to the AP White Campus, connecting the students of today to the tradition of the Victory Bell which rang at LWC over half a century ago.

1 - 4 p.m. - Lindsey Wilson Legacy Program, Homecoming Welcome Tent
If your family has a Lindsey Wilson legacy be sure to get your LWC family members together and stop by the Homecoming Welcome Tent to pick up your free "LWC Legacy - It's a Family Thing" t-shirts! To be considered an LWC Legacy, a student or alum must have a parent, grandparent, or sibling who also attended/attends LWC! Register for this event and reserve your LWC Legacy t-shirts by contacting the LWC Alumni Relations Office.

1:30 p.m. - Alumni College Session #2

2 p.m. - 14th-Annual Morris Shepherd Ping Pong Tournament, Cralle Student Union Building. Join other alumni and students in this tournament hosted by Morris Shepherd '53.

2 p.m. - Inaugural Homecoming Spades Tournament
Cralle Student Union BuildingJoin alumni Chris Estes and Ricky Farmer as they host this double elimination tournament of alumni and students to crown the LWC Homecoming Spades Champions for 2016!

5:30 p.m. - Bonner Scholar Reunion Wilkerson Bonner House

5:30 p.m. - BSN Pre-Licensure Nursing Student Blessing and White Coat Ceremony in V.P. Henry Auditorium. Alumni of the nursing program are invited back to campus to celebrate with the next generation of Lindsey Wilson nursing students.

6-8 p.m. - President's Homecoming Reception, Emily Hundley President's Home
The entire LWC Family is welcome and encouraged to attend! Special guests: 2016 Homecoming Award Recipients and Athletic Hall of Fame Class.

6 p.m. - Blue Raiders Basketball Preview, Biggers Sports Center
Come meet the 2016-17 LWC Blue Raiders women's and men's basketball teams! The women's squad takes the court for an inner squad scrimmage at 6 p.m., followed by the men's team at 7 p.m.

7 p.m. - Men's Soccer vs. Campbellsville University, Walter S. Reuling Stadium
It's the rivalry to end all rivalries! Come out and support the best men's soccer program in the country as we face off against the Tigers.

8 p.m. - Blue Raider Alumni Basketball Game, Biggers Sports Center Alumni from the men's and women's program will lace them up for this fun-filled, action-packed alumni game to see who still has what it takes.

9:30 p.m. - Homecoming Pep Rally! Campus Quadrangle
Join the LWC football team, cheerleaders, Blue Raider Marching Band, and Blue Raider Bob for a Homecoming pep rally, complete with s'mores and hot chocolate.

Saturday, Oct. 1

7:30 a.m. - LWC Cycling Reunion Road Ride, Holloway Health and Wellness Center
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the cycling program, the LWC cycling family is inviting former cyclists, friends of the program, community members and family to participate in a group ride event leaving at 7:30 a.m. There will be two distance choices.

8 - 11 a.m. - Homecoming Registration, Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center

9 a.m. - LWC Natural Garden and Community Garden Tours
Join LWC Botany professor Dr. Michael Bosela for a tour of the LWC Natural Garden which features countless varieties of plants and flowers native to Kentucky. The Garden is located at the bottom of the hill on the east end of Walter S. Reuling Stadium (Soccer Field). Or visit the Community Garden, located on the corner of West Guardian and Monroe Streets in Columbia.

10 a.m. - Golden Alumni Society Reunion and Induction Ceremony (Classes of 1966 and before), Hodge Center for Discipleship
If you attended LWC prior to 1967 and were not able to attend your 50 year reunion, this event provides you the opportunity to officially be inducted into the Golden Alumni Society. If you plan to attend, mark this reunion group on your reservation form.

11 a.m. - 2016 Alumni Awards & Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration, Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, Sponsored by: TJ Health - Columbia
The LWC National Alumni Association invites you to its 85th-annual alumni awards celebration. Join classmates and friends as we honor this year's award recipients and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Cost: $14 per person, $25 per couple. Please register in advance for this event if you plan to attend.

1 p.m. - LWC Baseball Reunion & Home Run Derby, Egnew Park - Lindsey Wilson Sports Park
This year marks the 35th anniversary of Blue Raider baseball and Coach Jonathan Burton invites all former LWC baseball players to return as we recognize the inaugural 1981 squad and celebrate the two most recent teams and their accomplishment of back-to-back World Series appearances! Plus, we will see who can still hit it out in an alumni Home Run Derby! The Home Run Derby will begin at 2 p.m. followed by team recognitions.

2 p.m. - LWC Alumni Association Annual Meeting, Rotary Board Room - Roberta D. Cranmer Dining and Conference Center
All LWC alumni are invited to the meeting to learn how to become involved with the LWC Alumni Council.

3 p.m. - LWC Cycling Reunion Cookout, LWC Cycling Park, Sponsored by: The Schmidt Family
Alumni, family and friends of the cycling program are invited to this reunion cookout at the LWC Cycling Park under the big tent. Come out, enjoy great food and cheer on the current Blue Raider cyclists as they compete in gravity and endurance races throughout the day.

4 p.m. - Homecoming Reunion Tent, Blue Raider Stadium
Sponsored by: Modern Woodmen of America
Join us for a tailgate meal and meet up with old friends at the Homecoming Reunion Tent! Cost: $3 per person (pay at the tent), plus the first 500 receive a free gift. Register to win one of our great door prizes courtesy of event sponsor.

6:30 p.m. - LWC Homecoming Football Game vs. Union College, Blue Raider Stadium
Let's cheer on the Blue Raiders to a Homecoming victory and see the King and Queen crowned during halftime!

Sunday, Oct. 2

11 a.m. - Homecoming Worship Service, Columbia United Methodist Church. The congregation of Columbia United Methodist Church invites the Lindsey Wilson family to join them in worship.
Special music will be performed by the Lindsey Wilson College Singers.

10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Brunch, Roberta D. Cranmer Dining and Conference Center
Conclude your Homecoming weekend with friends for brunch to share memories of the weekend. (Pay at the door event).
