She was a homemaker and a member of the Watson Chapel Christian Church. She loved quilting, gardening, and canning. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the widow of the late Clarence Drostie. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Marie Smith Drostie, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

Funeral services are 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Friday, September 16, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Sherman Floyd officiating. Mrs. Marie Drostie will be laid to rest in Watson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, September 15, 2016, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home and will continue Friday from 7amCT/8amET, until funeral service.



Marie Smith Drostie, 89, Casey County, KY (1927-2016)


Born February 14, 1927 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John "Jake" Smith and Mary Ellis Dick Smith. She died Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 89 years, six mnths, and 30 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Watson Chapel Christian Church. She loved quilting, gardening, and canning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Drostie, who died August 27, 1985; daughter, Phyllis Carman; grandson, John Whited; three brothers, Oliver, Oscar, and William Smith; and five sisters, Irene Henson, Della McAninch, Manilla Ellison, Rella Hines, and Ora Gadberry.

Survivors include:
  • A daughter: Wanda (and Mike) Hines of Liberty, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Jason Whited and Adam and Levi Hines

  • Great-grandson: Colton Hines

  • Brother: Ancil (and Louise) Smith of Indiana

  • And sister: Christine Hansford of Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Watson Chapel Cemetery Fund c/o Lola McAninch, 3157 South KY 837, and Liberty, KY 42539.
