Retired teachers meet Tue 20 Sep 2016 in Columbia, KY Retired Teachers gear up for another year of service to our community! By Ellen Zornes, President The first quarterly meeting of the new year for the Retired Teachers Association will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016,at 10amCT at Anderson's Pizzeria, 1411 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY. It's that time of year again as we begin a new year of our retired teacher meetings and service to our community. We kept our Gold Standard Rating with Kentucky Retired Teachers' Association (KRTA) last year by meeting and exceeding all the requirements and hope to do so again this year. So in that vein and to help our local students, we are again asking for each of us to please bring school supplies to our September meeting. The supplies will be divided between our Family Resource and Youth Services Centers. And yes, supplies are needed this year. We will also once again be making up our Fall and Christmas baskets that we give away at Downtown Days in October. We use the money for our $500 annual scholarship for an Adair County LWC junior majoring in Education. If your last name begins with A - N, please provide Fall items...if O - Z, Christmas items. These items can also be dropped off with Renae Smith at Central Office if you can't make the meeting or wish to contribute more later. We will be welcoming our new retirees and honoring them with a gift and a free meal. Also Patricia Harper will be our guest speaker about Medicare and what we need to be aware of concerning it. Even if you are not that age yet, you will be!
