By Shannon Sexton, Deputy Adair ABC Commissioner

The Adair County ABC currently has these three pending license applications:
  • Coomer's Trading Post LLC located at 4950 Fairplay Road, has applied for an NQ Malt Beverage License with the NQ-4 add on license.
  • Breeding Country Mart located at 14332 Burkesville Road, has applied for an NQ Malt Beverage License.
  • Ridge Runner Liquors LLC located at 10 Rattler Curry Road, has applied for Quota Retail Package License and NQ Retail Malt Beverage License.

NQ Malt Beverage Licenses are simply for the sale of malt beverage by the package. NQ-4 allows the sale of malt beverage by the drink. A Quota Retail Package License is for the sale of wine and spirits by the package.

Licenses marked as NQ are considered Non-Quota - there is essentially no limit to the number of license issued. NQ Malt Beverage Licenses are typically for gas stations, grocery or country stores.

Quota Retail Package License (Liquor Store) license are issued based on population. Adair County as a whole has 8 Quota Retail Package License available based on county population. Once the maximum of 8 Quota Retail Package License are issued, there will be no more Quota licenses available unless one of the original 8 becomes available again in the future. The deadline to apply for first consideration of Quota Retail Package License was Friday, August 26th.

Based on the legal advertisements in the Adair Progress showing those intending to apply for Quota Retail Package License, there will be some license available after the first consideration has been submitted. The Adair County ABC office urges those interested in applying for Quota Retail Package License to get their applications submitted as soon as possible.
