Florence Grider, 89, Cumberland Co., KY (1926-2016)

She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Sindy Vibbert Farlee and the widow of Elzie Grider. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a great family of direct living descendants, numbering over 50 members.

Florence Grider, age 89, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 4pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Mud Camp Cemetery. Family requests visitation after 2pmCT, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.


Florence Harper, 89, Cumberland Co., KY (1926-2016)

Florence was born on November 12, 1926 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sindy Vibbert Farlee. She died Friday, August 26, 2016, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 89 years, nine months, and 14 days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Grider; one daughter, Sharon Harper; one grandson, Benjamin Kay Grider; one sister, Luna Scott; and three brothers, Oscar Farlee, John Farlee, and Joe Farlee

Survivors include:

  • Two daughters: Faye Groce of Burkesville, KY and Brenda Arms and her husband Phillip of Burkesville, KY

  • Two sons: Ray Grider and his wife Jeanann of Indiana, and Kay Grider and his wife Debbie of Albany, KY

  • Special caregiver: Donna Purtlebaugh of Burkesville, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren

  • Thirty great grandchildren

  • Several great great grandchildren

  • A host of other relatives and friends
