Bob Barnes putting together relief shipment for flood victims Box fans, bath towels, and cleaning supplies being aggregated for trip NLT 31 August 2016. Answering plea of Adair Countians Doug & Debbie White, who are volunteering in Louisiana. Bob Barnes writes: This community has always amazed me by its generosity. Can we band together one more time and help those in need? Click on headline for complete story and for drop off (and pickup if necessary) information By Bob Barnes Thursday afternoon I received a phone call from a somewhat desperate Debbie White. She and her husband Doug are volunteering in Louisiana. Over 60,000 homes have been flooded and they along with volunteers from 8 Days of Hope are trying to help those that were devastated. Debbie said that box fans are in high demand but none are available anywhere. Up to 5 fans are needed in each flooded house to try to help dry out the homes. The house they were helping remove the dry wall board had 14 feet of water inside. The second greatest need was bath towels. She called me because she knew that I and others in the community have volunteered after disasters in the past. I would be willing to take a load of fans, bath towels and cleaning supplies if our community would like to help out our Southern citizens. I know it is short notice but if the community wants to help out then I sure would be happy to drive the goods to them. If anyone would like to donate a new or used box fan or any other items then I would like to try to leave no later than next Wednesday. I would like to invite everyone to visit 8 Days of Hope web site at www.8daysofhope.com. They would happily accept volunteers, donations and prayers. This is their twelfth disaster helping victims. They have built over 1,200 homes after those disasters. This community has always amazed me by its generosity. Can we band together one more time and help those in need? If anyone would like to drop off their donation of fans, towels or cleaning supplies then they can leave it at Sign America, 409 Burkesville Street before Wednesday morning August 31, 2016 Thanks for the consideration. --Bob Barnes PS: If anyone that has items they would like to send to the flood victims but cannot bring them to the drop off point then I would be happy to pick them up, I can be reached at 270-250-4073. Please feel free to call, text or leave a message if I am not able to answer. This story was posted on 2016-08-26 07:40:34
