4-H Forestry Field Day at Mammoth Cave is 13 Sep 2016

Adair County 4-H will be taking youth interested in forestry to the 4-H Forestry Field Day on September 13, 2016 to be held at the Mammoth Cave National Park. The event starts at 9:30amCT and ends at 2pmCT. Youth ages 9-18 are eligible to participate.



In one day the youth are taught and tested on the basics of tree identification, tree measurement, and the use of a compass and measuring distances by pacing. In the afternoon session, the youth experience \"Wood Magic", which raises their awareness of the importance of forest products. Cost is $3.00, you must bring a sack lunch and wear sturdy shoes.

If you are interested contact the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service located at 409 Fairground Street or call at 270-384-2317 to register. We will be taking the office van but only 12 can ride in the van. Registration deadline is September 2.

This is a great learning opportunity for any youth interest in the field of forestry. - Tony Rose
