No. 2 Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer wins season opener Score is 3-1 against Mount Vernon Nazarene before home crowd of 452 at Reuling Stadium Next:No. 2 Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer hosts No. 10 Vanguard (CA) at 7pmCT, Friday, August 26, 2016, at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY. By Matthew Wurzburger COLUMBIA, KY - (Tue 23 Aug 2016) - A trio of goals carried No. 2 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer past Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) 3-1 in the Blue Raiders' season opener Tuesday night. Lindsey Wilson (1-0-0) controlled the pace of action in the first half, out-shooting the Cougars (1-1-0) 11-1, including a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. However, the pressure produced only one goal, coming off the boot of Carlletia Savizon in the seventh minute. The sophomore midfielder set up her score with a slicing run from the right side. Annika Komm doubled the Blue Raiders' advantage in the 60th minute. The freshman defender received a feed from Yvonne Ploeg in the 18-yard box then fired a shot that deflected off a Cougar defender and into the goal. Mount Vernon broke the shutout in the 72nd minute with an Allison Paley goal. Ploeg put the match away with a goal in the 87th minute. The sophomore forward received the ball from Lyana Perez and buried it in the net past the charging Cougar goalkeeper. Lindsey Wilson amassed 12 corner kicks and outshot Mount Vernon Nazarene 20-6. Johanna Henriksson stopped four of five shots on goal to earn her first win of the season.
