Mr. Finis Hardin, 88, Burkesville, KY (1927-2016)

He was a member of Sexton Fork Baptist Church where he was the Song Leader for 28 years and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a U. S. Army WWII Veteran, an employee of General Motors in Hamilton, Ohio for 11 years, a farmer, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and served on the Board of Directors for the Cumberland County Soil Conservation District for 25 years and on the Board of Directors for Modoc Cemetery. He was born in the Bear Creek community of Cumberland County, KY. His wife, Helen Flowers Hardin, survives. He leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Mr. Finis Hardin of Burkesville, KY passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2pmCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Austin Flowers and Bro Mark Price officiating. Burial will be in the Modoc Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. The family will receive friends after 2pmCT, on Friday, August 19, 2016 until the funeral hour on Saturday.



Mr. Finis Hardin, 88, Burkesville, KY (1927-2016)

Mr. Finis Hardin of Burkesville, KY passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was born on Monday, September 5, 1927, in the Bear Creek community of Cumberland County, KY, the son of Menzo Wilson and Lena Bullock Hardin.

He was a member of Sexton Fork Baptist Church where he was the Song Leader for 28 years and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a U. S. Army WWII Veteran, an employee of General Motors in Hamilton, Ohio for 11 years, a farmer, a member of the Honorable Order of KY Colonels, and served on the Board of Directors for the Cumberland County Soil Conservation District for 25 years and on the Board of Directors for Modoc Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Beulah Vincent, James Howard Hardin, and Albert Dillard Hardin; his grandson, Christopher Gale Hardin; and his great-granddaughter, Hadley Grace Hardin.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Flowers Hardin of Burkesville, KY, and the following:
  • His children: Gayle (and Gail) Hardin of Burkesville, KY; Rev. Gary (and Joan) Hardin of Beaver Dam, KY; Larry (and Brenda) Hardin of Burkesville, KY

  • His sisters: Ova Thacker and Vicie Mers, both of Burkesville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Cindy Craft, Rebecca (and Mark) Price, Joe (and Amanda) Hardin, Angela (and Anthony) Jones, Michael (and Amy) Hardin, Adriane (and Aaron) Davis

  • Seven great-grandchildren, Wil Price, Matt Jones, Micah Price, Dakota Moore, Dawson Jones, Chris Craft, and J. W. Hardin.
