Hugh Mack Garrett, Taylor County KY (1926-2016)

Hugh Mack Garrett of Campbellsville died at 4:40amET Monday July 11, 2016 in Louisville at the age of 90.

His funeral service will be held at 12pmCT/1pmET Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, with clergy Dr. James Jones. Visitation is from 9amCT/10amET until the service begins on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Old Liberty Cemetery.



He was the son of the late Henry T. Garrett and Mattie Tungate Garrett. He was born April 4, 1926 in Marion County, Kentucky. He died Monday, July 11, 2016, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 90 years, tbree months and seven days.

He was baptized in the Methodist faith when living in Louisville.

He was a retired farmer, factory employee and postal service employee.

He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a disabled veteran having suffered injuries on Normandy Hill.

He is survived by:
  • His wife, Mary Ann Garrett of Campbellsville

  • Seven sisters and one brother: Marguerite Sallee and Emmie Edwards and husband Bobby of Campbellsville, Kitty Jarboe of Covington, Gladys Jean Childress of Louisville, Linda Quinn and husband David of Harrodsburg, Audrey Kirkland and husband Jerry, Shirley Richardson and husband Leonard, and Oliver Garrett and wife, Kathryn of Lebanon

  • One step-brother, John Sallee and wife Gertie of Cincinnati, Ohio

  • A brother-in-law, William Earl Fisher and wife Anna Marie of Smiths Grove

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister Louise Sexton, a brother Harlan Garrett and a sister-in-law Eveline Riley.
