Year in Review: 2015-16 LWC Women's Track & Field Along with the dozens of school records set on the track, the Blue Raiders also saw success in the classroom as Maria Cozzens earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors for the second-straight season. Lindsey Wilson led the conference with eight Academic All-MSC honorees including Kaylin Anderson, Breana Conway, Cozzens, Rachel Green, Emma Looney, Kaile Short, Rachel Wesley and Heather Wilson. By Charlie Balcom The second Mid-South Conference Championship in program history and a pair of NAIA All-Americans highlighted another record-setting year for the Lindsey Wilson women's track & field program in 2016. Kimberley Stevens earned the first NAIA All-American honor of the year during the indoor season after she took home seventh place in the triple jump to become the 17th Indoor All-American in program history. Stevens carried that success into the outdoor season where her performance at the MSC Championships earned her MSC Female Athlete of the Year honors after she accumulated more total points than any other athlete at the championships. Chanel Roberts then earned the second All-American honor for the Blue Raiders in 2016 after she finished in third place at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the shot put event, breaking her own school record in the process. She became the 12th Blue Raider in program history to earn outdoor All-American honors and just the second athlete to do so in a field event. At the MSC Championships, the Blue Raiders racked up 215 total team points to top second-place Cumberlands (Ky.) (154 points) and claim their second conference title in program history after earning their first in 2014. Lindsey Wilson collected five individual event victories to earn First Team All-MSC honors after wins by VaShawnda Smith, Alexia DeHaven-Boyd, Roberts and two by Stevens. Stevens added a pair of Second Team All-MSC honors in field events at the championships. Smith, DeHaven-Boyd, Annesha Harris and Oreatha Hurt also collected individual Second Team All-MSC honors as Smith, DeHaven-Boyd, Stevens and Brandy Baas teamed up to earn second team honors in the 4x100 meter relay. During the outdoor season, both DeHaven-Boyd and Stevens earned MSC Athlete of the Week honors. This story was posted on 2016-06-28 09:51:25
