Seven students who won awards advanced to the National Beta Club competition Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Calen McKinney Campbellsville High School students will compete June 27-30, 2016, at the national Beta convention, at New Orleans Morial Convention Center, 900 Convention Center Road, New Orleans, LA. The CHS Beta Club repeated as state champions at the annual state convention in January. As a result, seven students won awards and advanced to the national Beta convention. CHS juniors Blair Lamb, Laura Lamb and Murphy Lamb won first place at the state convention in the special talent category by performing "Lost in the Brass" from the musical "Band Geeks." Blair sang during the performance, while Murphy played piano and Laura played drums. CHS sophomore Bryce Richardson received second place in the poetry contest. Belen Garcia, a senior, received third place in the Spanish category. CHS junior Yena Shin came in third in the on-site pencil drawing competition. And CHS sophomore Ryan Wiedewitsch took home third place in the English category. Richardson, Wiedewitsch and Garcia will compete at nationals. The Lambs are attending Governor's School for the Arts, and, as such, are unable to compete, and Shin was an exchange student who attended CHS for her junior year and has since traveled home. CHS Media Specialist Valerie Davis and teacher Zach Shelton co-sponsor the Beta Club.
