LWC Swim Teams earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors

By Charlie Balcom

Both the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swim teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams, the organization announced earlier this week.

The Blue Raider men's team posted a grade point average of 3.50 during the 2016 spring semester, the highest of any NAIA institution.

On the women's side, Lindsey Wilson posted a 3.58 GPA, the third highest among NAIA institutions trailing only Brenau (Ga.) (3.63) and Union (Ky.) (3.61).

A total of 658 teams representing 388 institutions across all levels of collegiate competition received the honor. It marks just the second time in the 30 year history of the program that over 600 teams received the academic accolade.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher over the spring semester. Top teams were recognized for both large teams (more than 22 women or 21 men) and small.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America - the oldest organization of college coaches in America - is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
