Emilee was awarded the 2016 Brittany Shoap award last night at the Miss Taylor County Fair Pageant.

Brittany is known throughout the Kentucky County Fair Pageant System by many people. In 2005 Brittany was crowned Miss Taylor County Fair and less than 24 hours later was killed by a drunk driver.

Her mother Tammy Bastin, which has stayed active in the Kentucky County Fair Pageant System since the tragic loss of her daughter, decided to give an award each year to keep her daughters legacy alive.

The award is given to a pageant girl chosen by Tammy based on kindness, selflessness, positive attitude, and great character.

Emilee was honored to receive this last night, Tuesday, June 7, 2016, and said, "This award means more to me than any crown ever could." Emilee is her friend Austin, in the accompanying photo. - Leeanna Camfield Willis.
