Mary E. (Jean) Johnston, 86, Edmonton, KY (1929-2016)

She was a member of a prominent Metcalfe County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Virgle F. and Nona B. Syra Whitlow, and the widow of husband Ralph Bartley and husband E.T. Johnston. She leaves seven direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Edmonton Church of Christ.

Mary E. "Jean" Johnston age 86 of Edmonton, KY, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Edmonton.

Funeral services will be held 11amCT, Friday, June 3, 2016, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, June 2, 2016, and after 9amCT, Friday at the funeral home.

She was the daughter of the late Virgle F. and Nona B. Syra Whitlow. She was born June 16, 1929. She died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 15 days.

She was a homemaker and member of the South Edmonton Church of Christ.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: William Bartley and wife Beverly of Edmonton, KY

  • One grandson: Jonothan Nunnally and wife Charity of Edmonton, KY

  • A son-in-law: Tommy Nunnally of Edmonton, KY

  • Five great grandchildren: Hunter Nunnally, Trigg Nunnally, Holden White, Ethan Bates and Kennedy Bates

  • Several nieces and nephews
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Ralph Bartley and E.T. Johnston; a daughter Rebecca Nunnally; a grandson Brent Nunnally; two brothers Wayne and Donald Whitlow; and a sister Nell Perkins.
