LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The third-seeded Lindsey Wilson baseball team capped of their second game of the day with a 9-3 victory over top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett, 9-3.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders force the if necessary championship game on Friday morning at 8CT/9amET. The winner of the Friday game earns a berth into the Avista NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Dustin Woody led Lindsey Wilson (41-23) at the plate going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Aaron Ashton and Jan Carlos Ortiz each had two hits and a pair of RBIs against the Grizzlies (57-5). Austin Atwell also hit a home run in the game, which was his third of the day after he hit two against Indiana Southeast in the first game of the day.

Lindsey Wilson went down in order to start the game and after Georgia Gwinnett had runners on first and second base with one out, Daniel Ferrell induced a ground ball double play to get out of the inning.

Atwell got the Blue Raider offense started in the second inning with a solo home run to left field, which was his third of the day. Ortiz and Brandon Munoz hit back-to-back singles to centerfield and after a double steal; Ryan Harper delivered a sacrifice fly to right field to score Ortiz from third base.

With Lindsey Wilson leading 2-0, Victor Nazario doubled down the left field line to score Munoz. Woody kept the rally going with an infield single to place runners at the corners. Nazario then scored on a wild pitch and Caleb Ratzman - won was courtesy running for Woody - moved up to second base.

After Georgia Gwinnett was able to get the second out of the inning, Edgar Lebron reached on an infield single and Ratzman advanced to third. Lebron moved into scoring position by stealing second base and Aaron Ashton drove in two more runs with single to the gap in right-centerfield.

The Grizzlies then made pitching change with Atwell coming to the plate. After Atwell was hit by a pitch, another wild pitch from Georgia Gwinnett allowed Ashton and Atwell to move up a base. Ortiz then reached first base on an infield single, which scored Ashton, but the inning came to an end after Atwell was tagged out in a run down between third base and home plate.

The Blue Raiders sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning scoring seven runs on eight hits as they grabbed an early 7-0 lead.

Lindsey Wilson grabbed an 8-0 lead as Harper reached base with two outs in the third inning and singles from Woody and Alec Salcedo allowed Harper to score.

In the home half of the third inning, Georgia Gwinnett had their first two batters reach base and they had runners on the corners with no outs. After the next batter for the Grizzlies popped up in the infield for the first out in the inning, another double play got the Blue Raiders out of the jam as Ortiz caught a line drive and he was able to double off the runner at first base to preserve the 8-0 lead.

Georgia Gwinnett looked to get a rally of their own started in the bottom of the fourth inning as Zac Rinehart led off the inning with a double and Ferrell walked the next batter and load the bases with a hit by pitch. However, Ferrell got out of the jam as he got the next batter to pop out in the infield and he then recorded a strikeout. Ferrell ended the inning by getting Brady Shoppe to fly out to left field.

The Grizzlies broke through in the bottom of the seventh inning as they started the inning with a single and a walk. The Blue Raiders were able to get the first out of the inning on a force out at second base, but Georgia Gwinnett still had runners on the corners with one out. A single from Jereid Woods scored the first run of the game for the Grizzlies and Josh Merrigan followed with a double off the wall to score another run.

With runners on second and third base with no outs Rinehart grounded out to second base, but he was able to drive in the run as the Grizzlies made it an 8-3 game after seven innings of play.

Lindsey Wilson tacked on another run in the top of the ninth inning as Lebron reached second base on an error to start the inning. He then moved over to third base on a stolen base and three batters later, Ortiz hit a sacrifice fly to left-centerfield to score Lebron and give the Blue Raiders a 9-3 lead.

Ferrell (7-3) closed the door on the Grizzlies as he went all nine innings allowing just three runs on eight hits.

In the game, the Blue Raiders were able to force three double plays, while Georgia Gwinnett had four double plays.
