Harry Furkins: Rectifier was power advance in some TVs

Harry l Furkins writes:
As for the word rectifier I heard one of my brothers who was a electronics tech speak of the word many times.Do not know if the spelling is the same but it was known as a power advance in some tv sets. Sure didn't know it had anything to do with alcoholic beverages. The rectifier served the same as a capacitor in an air conditioner.Maybe someone with electrical ability can set us strait on the matter. --Harry l Furkins
