Click on headline for full story, photo(s) By Ed Waggener Casey County Deputy Sheriff Jamie Walters investigated a collision between a Yamaha Motorcycle and a 2006 Buick LaCrosse sedan at around 2pmET, Saturday, May 7,2016, approximately five miles south of Liberty, KY. The cyclist, Jeffrey Lawhorn (6/7/93) of Liberty, KY, who was wearing a helmet, was transported from the scene to Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville, KY, for treatment of possible injuries. The occupants of the Buick LaCrosse, driver Herman Holmes (8/22/28), London, KY, and and a female passenger, were not injured and the Buick sustained only a few scratches, according to Deputy Walters. Both Holmes and his passenger were wearing seatbelts. Deputy Walters said that according to an eye witness traveling northbound immediately behind the motorcyclist, the Buick pulled from the parking lot and was making a left turn - south - from the Bread of Life Cafe' into the path of the motorcycle when the impact occurred. The cyclist was riding in the northbound lane and was apparently separated from the cycle and landed partially on the roadway an estimated 40-50 feet north of the restaurant entrance. The cycle continued in a northbound direction, crossing the southbound lane, then along a grassy embankment coming to rest on its right side. The motor was still running when two young men found it and rolled it back to the Bread of Life Cafe parking lot. According to Deputy Walters, the motorcycle appeared to have only minor cosmetic damage. Traffic on US 127 was halted while responders cleared the accident scene. In addition to the Casey County Sheriff's Office, units of the Liberty Police Department, the Casey County EMS, and volunteers from at least two area fire departments responded.
