Wathen received the honor this evening from Commissioner Eric Ward at the MSC softball banquet held at Bowling Green Country Club. She was also voted by her conference peers for the same honor in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2015. "Congratulations to Coach Wathen on being selected as the Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year," said Rusty Hollingsworth, director of CU athletics. "The Lady Tiger softball team has had a great season and the leadership of coach Wathen is very evident. "Shannon has built a strong softball program by using the basics of recruiting hard and working hard. It is a great honor for her to be recognized by her peer coaches in the conference for a job well done." Wathen led Campbellsville to a 44-8 overall record and 27-1 in conference play. The Lady Tigers earned the No. 1 seed in the MSC tournament that starts tomorrow (Friday, April 29) as the regular season champion. The Lady Tigers will play Shawnee State University (11-33) at Noon ET at Bowling Green's Michael O. Buchanon Park, 9222 Nashville Road. Campbellsville played 16 games against ranked and/or receiving votes opponents this season and won 11 of those games. This story was posted on 2016-04-29 05:58:23
