New readers get to ring the bell for literacy in Edmonton

By Gaye Shaw
Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber Of Commerce

Parents and community members are invited to the Ring the Bell for Literacy celebration this Friday, April 29, 2016, at 9amCT at the Metcalfe County Public Library, 200 S Main Street, Edmotnon, KY. This program is a partnership between the Metcalfe County Public Library and the Metcalfe County Schools to recognize new readers in kindergarten and first grade.

Students will be invited to visit the public library for recognition and to ring the bell at the historic courthouse located across the street. The bell ringing will let everyone in Edmonton know that we have a new reader among us. After the bell ringing ceremony, the students will sign their names in the official book of names stating that they have read a book aloud and rung the Literacy Bell.
