John C. Sandlin, 82, Adair Co., KY (1934-2016)

He was retired from Naval Ordinance and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a native of Perry County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late John & Minta Baker Sandlin. His wife, Rosetta Abner Sandlin, survives. He was the patriarch of a large, distinguished family. He leaves 19 direct living descendants, a God daughter and honorary grndchild to carry on his legacy.

John C. Sandlin age 82 years of Columbia, KY died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 8:35 AM his home.

Funeral services for John C. Sandlin will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Darrell Treece the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pmCT, Tuesday, April 19, 2016, and & on Wednesday morning before the funeral service.

He was born on January 12, 1934 in Perry County, KY. He was the son of the late John & Minta Baker Sandlin. He died Saturday, April 16, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY

He is survived by his wife Rosetta Abner Sandlin of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Marilyn Sandlin (Darrell) Treece of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: Johnny Carl (Darlene) Sandlin of Austin, IN and Michael Anthony (Jessica) Sandlin of Austin, IN

  • One brother: Frank Sandlin (Linda) of Hazard, KY

  • A God daughter: Rosetta (Jessie) Devine of Harrodsburg, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Darrell Treece, Jr., Scot Treece, David Sandlin, Johnny Sandlin, Scotty Sandlin, Michael Sandlin, Jr.; Mark Sandlin and Jennifer McKercher

  • Honorary grandchild: Breyer Devine

  • Eight great grandchildren
He was retired from Naval Ordinance, was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army.
