COLUMBIA, KY (Fri 15 Apr 2016) The 25th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team picked up their 30th win of the season with a 6-4 victory over Shawnee State (Ohio) on Friday night at Egnew Park.

Brandon Munoz led the Blue Raiders (30-17, 10-6 Mid-South Conference) after going 3-for-5 at the plate, while driving in three runs. Aaron Ashton also had a multi-hit game as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.

Scott Sebald picked up the win on the mound for Lindsey Wilson and with the victory; Sebald is now tied for the most career wins in program history with 24. The Bears (17-27, 5-11 MSC) took an early 1-0 lead as a leadoff single came around to score with one out in the first inning.

Lindsey Wilson countered in the home half of the first inning as Edgar Lebron started the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Ashton was able to drive in Lebron with a single out to left-centerfield.

In the second inning, Victor Nazario led off with an infield single and two batters later Fabian Chirino drove in Nazario with a double out to the wall in left field. With Lindsey Wilson leading 2-1, the Bears had two outs in the inning, but an error from Shawnee State kept the inning alive.

After Lebron reached on the error from the Bears, Chirino was able to score on the play. Munoz than singled to right field to score Lebron from second base to give the Blue Raiders a 4-1 lead.

Both pitchers started to settle in as neither team scored over the next three innings.

Shawnee State cut into their deficit in the sixth inning as they scored a pair of runs in the inning to make it a 4-3 ball game after six and half innings of play.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lindsey Wilson looked to find some insurance runs, but they left the bases loaded to end the inning.

The Blue Raiders were able to grab their insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Miguel Reyes was hit by a pitch to start the inning and after a stolen base and wild pitch he was able to move all the way up to third base. After Chirino was walked, the next two Blue Raiders were retired.

Munoz then delivered a two-out single to shallow left field, which scored Reyes and Chirino.

With the Lindsey Wilson holding a 6-3 lead, James Doubet returned to the mound after retiring the final batter in the eighth inning. Doubet retired the first two batters of the inning, but Shawnee State looked to mount a two-out rally as the Bears recorded a single and a walk. Conner Wilson singled to left-centerfield to score one run for Shawnee State.

Doubet got out of the jam with fly out to secure the 6-4 victory for the Blue Raiders.

Sebald (6-3) pitched seven innings allowing three runs on nine hits, while recording eight strikeouts. With the victory on Friday, Sebald is now tied with Derek Cape for most wins in program history with 24.
