Science Hill Police Chief pleads guilty to two counts Gossett pocketed cash payments from city water customers From the office of Attorney General Andy Beshear FRANKFORT, KY. (15 Apr 2016) - Today, Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that Science Hill Police Chief William "Robbie" Gossett pled guilty to two counts of tampering with public records, a class D felony. Gossett was ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution to the City of Science Hill, surrender certification as a police officer, serve 21 days of home incarceration and was ordered supervised probation for two-years. The City of Science Hill is located in Pulaski County. "Kentuckians have a right to expect that public officials follow the law and uphold public trust. As the people's lawyer, my office is working every day to protect Kentucky families and our most vulnerable citizens from fraud and abuse," said Beshear. "I applaud the effort of my office's Special Prosecutions Unit for their work on this case." The charges against Gossett stem from his employment with the City of Science Hill from July of 2008 through October of 2009. During a pretrial conference today in Pulaski County, Gossett admitted to taking cash from citizens intended to be deposited as payment for their water bills. In December 2015, Gossett was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury for abuse of public trust and theft of more than ten-thousand dollars. Anyone aware of illegal activity on the part of an elected or appointed official is encouraged to contact the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Criminal Investigation's toll-free hotline at 866-524-3672.
