Chief Cross says CPD will double down in wake of heroin bust

Russell County, KY, Man arrested in Columbia, KY, on allegation of trafficking in Heroin after ongoing investigation.

Columbia Police Department has arrested a Russell County man on Trafficking Heroin charges after an ongoing investigation resulted in a traffic stop of a suspected dealer.



At approximately 9:10pmCT, Wednesday night, April 13, 2016, CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Pontiac on Russell Road in the limits of Columbia.

A quantity of Heroin was located as a result. During the investigation the suspect became combative in an attempt to resist his arrest but was quickly restrained and taken into custody.

Arrested and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail was 28 year old Brandon Jones of Russell County on charges of:
  1. Menacing 1st offense
  2. Resisting arrest
  3. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense Heroin
CPD Detective Brad Scholl and Ofc. Jordan Dean assisted Ofc. Brockman in the investigation and arrest.

Chief Cross states "We are doubling down our efforts in combating the rising use of drugs in our community and those who choose to sell illegal narcotics. More arrests are pending."
