Pounds for Hounds Recycle Bins for Green River Animal Shelter Success of Green River Animal Shelter is drawing new ideas for the shelter By Cynthia A Meyer Ed, As I was scrolling through Columbia Magazine I read in the article "Green River Animal Shelter had a good March 2016" that "The shelter reported $2,330 in receipts, which includes $1,690.00 in adoption fees, $100 in surrender fees, donations of $10 and sponsorships of $530.00." I was wondering if the county could not come up with a bin much like the recycle bins around the area, but for aluminum cans only with proceeds from the sale of the aluminum to go to the Green River Animal Shelter. - Maybe even get the welding class at the high school to make it in the shape of a dog so families could drive past, and deposit a can or two in its mouth. Knowing it might only be worth a few cents they are donating, but in a bigger picture they are helping out the shelter with a can that would be thrown away at home anyway since most people no longer save cans due the price drop in aluminum. Just a thought... - Cynthia A Meyer This story was posted on 2016-04-14 00:48:41
