James V. (Jimmy) Beams, 82, Green Co., KY (1933-2016)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Kentucky Trailers. Was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Hodgenville Post, and the V.F.W. James L. Pruitt Post #5813. His wife of 61 years, Barbara White Beams, survives. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Mr. James V. "Jimmy" Beams of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. James V. "Jimmy" Beams will be conducted at 10amCT, Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Bro. Dan Perkins will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.



James V. (Jimmy) Beams, 82, Green Co., KY (1933-2016)


Mr. James V. "Jimmy" Beams of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Victor Beams and Ova Sublett Beams, was born on May 31, 1933 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Kentucky Trailers. Was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Hodgenville Post, and the V.F.W. James L. Pruitt Post #5813.

Mr. Beams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara White Beams of Greensburg, KY. They were united in marriage on December 18, 1954.

Other survivors include:
  • Two sons: Mike Beams and his companion, Debbie Akin of Greensburg, KY; and Jonathon Beams of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters and a son-in-law: Lisa and Mel Boynton of Louisville, KY; and Lynn Sigmon and her companion, Bill Conley, Jr. of Greensburg, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Victoria Heitzman, Veronica Heitzman both of Louisville, KY; Cody Bowling, Daniel Beams both of Columbia, KY; Noah Sigmon, Grant Conley both of Greensburg, KY; Abbie Conley of Indiana; David Akin of Greensburg, KY; and Donna McClister of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four brothers and sisters-in-law: Wayne and Velma Jean Beams, Donald and Betty Beams all of Louisville, KY; Carl and Brenda Beams of Greensburg, KY; and Cledus and Shelia Beams of Hodgenville, KY

  • and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, which can be made at the funeral home.
