Shannon Sexton says Dry supporter's letter doesn't fact check Response to: Randy Young: Drunk drivers don't think or care By Shannon Sexton, Chair PAC Mr. Young, your statistics seem to have originated from "Make-up Another Dishonest Dialogue" instead of "Mothers Against Drunk Driving". Scare-Tactics only work when people don't fact check. You state: "In 2013 in KENTUCKY a total of 1,149 children 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle IMPAIRED-DRIVING crashes." Fact: MADD lists information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and I quote the NHTSA website: "In 2013, a total of 1,149 children 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes". You've conveniently added the word "Kentucky" as well as the words "Impaired-Driving". I would also like to note that the NHTSA states that Fatalities in Alcohol-Impaired driving crashes decreased 2.5% from 2012-2013. Alcohol-Impaired Driving Fatalities have also declined by 23% in the past 10 years. Here is the link to the NHTSA website so everyone can fact check for themselves. http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/812102.pdf Shannon Sexton - PAC Chair This story was posted on 2016-03-09 16:29:27
