Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer Campbellsville Independent Schools (CIS) Campbellsville Elementary School students celebrated Dr. Seuss last week in a week full of several special events. Events began on Monday, February 29, 2016 and will end on Monday, March 7, 2016, with a family night. On Friday, March 4, students came to school in their pajamas and third-graders enjoyed several activities. Students made oobleck from "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and they spent time reading on the floor in their pajamas and making Cat in the Hat hats with marshmallows and Twizzlers. They also watched "Cat in the Hat" and had their faces painted and took photos at a photo booth. Dr. Seuss events will conclude on Monday, March 7, 2016, with Read Across America Seuss Night. Activities will be from 4:30pm-6:30pmCT/5:30pm-7:30pmET in the gym at Campbellsville Elementary School, 315 Roberts Road (campus), Campbellsville, KY. Events will start with second-graders performing a tribute to Dr. Seuss. An art show will follow to display student work. Afterward, students and their families will have the chance to have fun at various activity stations set up to honor Dr. Seuss, such as a hula hoop station, a fishing booth, a popcorn bar, a hat booth, a green eggs and ham hunt, musical chairs, temporary tattoos, a sucker pull, pin the cat on the hat, hopscotch and a photo booth. All of the activities will require tickets, which can be purchased that night for 25 cents each. Pizza and drinks will also be available. The CES book fair will be open during the Dr. Seuss activities, closing at 6pmCT/7pmET. Read Across America is an annual reading awareness program that motivates students to read.
