Nina Earlene Dunbar, 88, Russell Co., KY (1927-2016)

She was a retired factory worker and a member of Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church. She was a native of Russell County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of her death, and will be laid to rest in Square Oak Cemetery in the county of her birth. She was the daughter of the late Otha Lee & Belva Dunbar Popplewell, and the widow of Benfer Dunbar. She leaves 21 direct living descendants to carry on her legacy.

Nina Earlene Dunbar, 88, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

Funeral service for Nina Earlene Dunbar will be 11amCT,Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Coffey, Bro. Charles Edwards and Jeff Hoover officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Monday, February 29, 2016. Interment in the Square Oak Cemetery. Special music: Janice Popplewell, Robin Riddle, and Amy Ballenger. Pallbearers will be Brian Baugh, Brett Blankenship, Roger Blankenship, Bryan Milburn, Chad Smith, and Stephen Yates.

Nina Earlene Dunbar, 88, Russell Co., KY (1927-2016)

She was born Thursday, November 24, 1927 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Otha Lee & Belva Dunbar Popplewell. She died Saturday, February 27, 2016, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, three months, and three days.

She was a retired factory worker and a member of Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benfer Dunbar; a sister, Gertie Johnson; and five brothers, Mose, Otto Vernon, Jack, Roger and Phillip Popplewell. Survivors include
  • Three children: Danny Lee (Linda) Foster, York, SC; Peggy (Stephen) Yates, Lexington, KY; Connie (Roger) Blankenship, Jamestown, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • Two sisters: Evelyn Lee, Liberty, KY; and Dinah Thomas, Russell Springs, KY
