ACPC students participate in Appalachian Musical Playground

Click on headline for full story photo(s)

By Laura Marcum

Students at the Adair County Primary Center recently participated in an Appalachian Musical Playground. Students had been studying about the Appalachian Mountains, the people, instruments, and traditional dance styles.

During the Appalachian Playground students were able to move around to different stations and play with musical spoons, a washboard, guitar, dulcimer, homemade bass, and a Limberjack doll.

They also were able to examine a bear skin and try out flat-foot dancing. A good time was had by all.

Due to recent snow days it took a while for all of our classes to have a turn. All grades participated.

Laura Marcum, the writer of this article and the photographer who took the accomanying photo(s), is the Music Teacher at Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY 42728.
